Ghost reaver - blood rage confusion

Hi peeps,
I'm running a low life aura crit bow build.

What I am aiming to do is run bloodrage but to get it to leech of my energy shield instead of life.

Now Ghost reaver passive is suppose to do this but when i have it on bloodrage is still leaching from my life and kills me.

Why is this ?
Many post confirms that Ghost reaver does work with bloodrage.

I might be answering my own question here or perhaps I'm wrong and it's a bug - which I hope.

The only common factor I see in builds that do this : bloodrage leaching from es and not life like - low life spectral throw is the all have shav's.

Blood magic deals chaos damage - chaos damage bypass energy shield and deals damage to life. Is this then negating the effect of ghost reaver - which is why it still leaches from my life.

Shav's effect makes choas damage not bypass energy shield - hence when using this with bloodrage and ghost reaver it leeches from es and not life.

Does this mean ghost reaver can not leach from enenry shield in this instance without shav's because of the chaos damage it deals?

:( I hope not .....

Another band aid is going CI but i still want Ghost Reaver and don't wanna waste skill points getting CI.

What are your thoughts?

Blood Rage has four parts:

1. It grants faster attack speed on low life.

2. It grants life leech.

3. It grants a frenzy charge upon killing something.

4. It gives you degeneration that deals chaos damage.

You are making the mistake of thinking that Ghost Reaver affects degenerations, when it doesn't.

You lose x% of your Maximum Life per second as Chaos Damage

That's how it reads. Nowhere in that sentence does it mention leech. So only Shavronne's Wrappings or Solaris Lorica would cause it to go to ES before life.

blood rage life degeneration debuff is something different than life leech, completely unrelated. Leech is life recovery from hits, based on % damage dealt
