For the love of the Goddess

This is a mini project I am doing to see how viable and fun it is if I just used the Goddess sword to level up and for those who might be interested. I am posting the gears and tree as I progress through each act for reference. This is by no means self found and I will utilize whatever gear/gems I have already.

Normal

Act 1

Main attack is of course cleave, I wanna take the full advantage of the shadow starting ele dmg nodes knowing Scorned is fully fire and I wanna go crit. Rocking a tabula 6L at this level makes it so easy, especially with a Elreon ring meaning cleave didn't cost any mana!

Act 2

I put on the dream frag and pick up the mana reserve reduction nodes because I want to be able to run both anger and HoA fitting with the fire theme. Things still die very fast despite not changing the weapon. Vaal fight was simple enough. Took passive point for bandit


Act 3

Upgraded the sword to Scorned and the burn is scary...

Since the crit chance is so nice on this beauty, maligaros compliments the sword perfectly until I am high enough for acuity. the 6L for cleave is now Wed, LL, melee phys, fire pen and added fire. Mana is starting to become an issue. I will drop melee phys and added fire for possible conc effect and increased crit dmg once crit chance is high enough

needless to say I am outdamaging the content due to the 6L, but its hard to tell will the dmg keep up until somewhere in merciless when we are suppose to upgrade to unleashed.

lioneyes paws are only used for the rrrb socket, where HoA is linked with prolif. hit a pack once and just watch everything falls. Piety and Dom aren't really an issue.

grabbed the important crit chances on the right hand side of the tree after switching to scorned and started to make my way through the left hand side, going to grab more crit chance and aura nodes by the templar next



Cruel

Act 1

Scorned still carries hard. Swapped out melee phys for increased crit strike for now for a bit more smooth criting. Died for the first time in a Haku mission. Totally preventable if I bothered to roll my flask or just avoid it all together. Brutus and Merveil both not a big deal. If I have a 5/6L volls protector, I'd swap to that at this point.




Act 2

Things are definitely become harder to kill, but crit burn still 1 shot most rares. Died a couple times to lightning dmg because of the lightning res being at petty 15%, with proper defensive gearing this might not have happened.


Act 3

The death counts are starting to mount are due to lack of resist and life, forcing me to drop the malis and couple other gears to go more defensive. I run purity of element now and have cleave supported by bm so I am able to run purity, anger, HoA on mana. Damage is still fine as long as I crit which is more than half of the time now




Merciless

Act 1

resist is capped, but life is far too low, so I am very squishy at the moment, merveil and brutus wasnt problematic, but the hard hitting physical damage monster owns me. Damage is still fine



Act 2

Switching to cwdt-EC-IC-inc dur helps with survivability against hard phys hitting mobs a lot. I now have very nice jeweleries, I am able to drop purity of element and use wrath helps with clear speed. Now the HoA is linked with ele prolif and inc aoe and is insane. Crit a mob and half of screen dies to burn. I have conc effect in cleave so its single target viable but spread the overkill dmg... This is a level 28 weapon and doing a truck load of damage still

Act3 and endgame

Ok I had too much fun with this and also I realized you can map without the need of eternal lab thanks to zana, so I have been doing that lately and didn't even finish Dom yet. Done piety tho for the 2 extra points.

I have changed the from aiming to do and LL shav build to a life based build.
This is mainly because the limitation of the Scorned, where you only have 3 sockets, which means I dont get to run all the auras because of lack of sockets. This is why my gear isnt optimal as as rings and ammy dont have life on it.

Master crafting is very nice, meaning we can now get wed on helm and boots. I got lucky with my craft with both end up being 1% away from the max roll. Have about 4K life and tool tip dps with 3 power charges is just above 60K. Belly helps a lot in terms of survival, but Carcass will do nicely also

Re-adjusted the tree a little, grabbing all the fat juicy life nodes, wasted 5 points getting across from right hand side to left hand side, but puts me right next to inner force and I will grab ash frost and storm soon, elemental nodes double dips for the initial hit as well as the burn. crit chance will be around 70% once I pick up depth perception.

I am gonna go through the choices for links,items and the mechanics of the build I am doing here.

gear choice and gem setup
Helm- RRBB, links are reduced mana, increase AoE, ele prolif and Herald of Ash

This is what I feel is the optimal choice for AoE clearing. I tried mind gaze for the lvl 15 conc effect and whilst the burn got seriously sick, the AoE is lacking somewhat, but maybe could work once the AoE nodes by templar were picked up and using a carcass, I dont have a 6L carcass to try though.

go for life and as much resis as possible here, and try to bench craft WED on the helm.

Glove- RRRR, links are CwDT, enduring cry, immortal call and increase duration. The build survives through instant leeching and having this set up helps against spike physical damage. Alternative is to drop increase duration and use frost wall instead, to stop charging rhoas instant gibs you, since IC does nothing to protect you if they have started charging before IC is up I think.

Acuity is so nice due to the crit leech, Alternatively, malis are very big dps boost and just pick up vaal pact instead.

Chest - I would like ideally BBBRRR, for cleave, wed, conc effect, increased crit damage, added lightning, life leech

full damage gems here apart from life leech. It will be hard to get 3 off colours on a hybrid (I did get a BBBBRR on the belly tho... trolling much?) so I settled for added cold instead of added lightning, once I save up enough chroms I will try recolour.

Basically we get increased elemental damage from tree so I have gone for things that multiply our damage to boost the initial hit and make it single target viable. Due to the lower phys damage on the weapon, melee phys isnt as good, although this might change if the 3rd sword comes out.

Only start using this 6L if your mana regen can sustain, else drop 1 of the gem (added x) and use blood magic. I was using a tabula when levelling (see above)

Don't level up cleave because we do elemental damage and level only helps physical which on scorned is very little and not worth the increased mana cost.
Also get 20q on conc effect, the reduced mana multiplier helps alot for sustaining cleave.

Belly or Carcass would be my choice here, belly for the more defensive option and carcass for the more offensive option.

boots -RRBB, I have reduced mana, wrath, anger, ass mark.

the flat damage auras boosts our initial hit and couples with the gems we have, this leads to serious damage potential. Ass mark costs alot of mana so is linked here for reducing its mana cost, as I didnt have too much free mana after reserve.

Ass mark is choice because the extra crit chance, power charge generation and extra mana on kill which is important for this build here for sustaining the attack as there are no mana leech.

I have rare boots here, go for life, res and WED from master.

Belt - go for life, resist and WED, doryani's invitaion (fire version) is nice, but I feel you lose a lot of life for it.

amulet - go really offensive here, with exception of life mod and maybe mana regen. WED, Crit chance, crit multi, flat ele damage (fire/light preferred), accuracy, don't settle for resis here, make it up from other spot. WED and Multi would be the first 2 on the list.

rings, this is where you make up the rest of your resist, and then start picking up Life, WED, flat ele, fire damage, mana/regen and any attribute points if needed.

Weapon - The one and only goddess scorned, the links are flicker strike,whirling blade and PCoC

the fact that stuff burning 50% quicker means things are burnt for shorter time, meaning mobs die quicker! The crit chance is very important as allows us to play an effective crit build with high crit chance.

Curse the pack of mobs with ass mark, pick the mob you dislike the most, flicker in and do a cleave, and if that happens to be a crit, watch most of the screen melt whilst getting mana and power charges. Simple as that

If there is no die totem, flicker in and destroy that first. No die means no overkill

Do to the fact that the high dps here isnt achieved through attack speed, but rather through sheer raw ele crit damage, this build doesnt have much of a single target problem on bosses. One does need to worry about taking too much damage but crit leeching helps. Also kite around the boss a little if face tank isnt possible, and use the burn overkill damage to finish off the boss, as we hit very hard, it is entirely possible to finish boss off without even touching it.

Reflect? Be a little smart about it. Non crit wont kill you, and as for crit as long as you don't 1 shot yourself, you will be ok from instant leech.

For pots, I run 3 instant recovery, a quicksilver and anti freeze. Instant recovery helps when you are not crit leeching and face tanking the boss.

This is very much a solo build, the effectiveness does go down the more life mob has. It's kind of hard to get the last kill on a mob with 6 people party anyway although your single target damage is still more than enough.

Possible mods to avoid for mapping, blood magic, and no regen and half regen, fire resis mob wasnt as bad as I thought, but just rather a bit annoying and takes a little longer to kill.


Variation and possibilities
Fire resistant mob can be annoying, but ass mark is rather too good to drop. We are 7 points away from whisper of doom so it is possible to pick that up and duel curse flammability with Ass mark. Windscream is also possible, the ele damage and resists are nice for the build too.

I would drop Pcoc on the sword to run extra curse, but make sure the mana is still sustainable as 1 of the curse wont be linked with reduced mana

Acro and Phase acro are good defensive options here since the build doesnt rely on armour and ES for survival anyway.
Although I choose the shadow to start, this build is equally viable as Templar


Finally I want to thank Charan for making this truly unique item which gave me immense solo experience and I had a blast couple of weeks leveling.

Some best moments were opening the box whilst close to ignited body and watch mobs from box melts and killing bosses without touching them.

(I am sharing my fun experiences from the sword here, but if mod thinks this is more of the guide, then please move it to the shadow section)

Going avatar of fire, swapping Added Cold for Fire penetration and going for fire nodes (arsonist)?

Just curious :p

Also if you scaled Phys damage a bit more you could try:

Also did you consider going to duelist/ranger area for the crit sword nodes? (110% chance, 60% multi), and heartseeker cluster is right on the way (50% crit, 25% multi).

Just some thoughts :P

Mannoth, I did think long and hard about all the things you've mentioned. Here are my thoughts.

going AoF,fire pen route and arsonist means
-I lose half of my damage for wrath
-lose added cold (which will be added light should I get enough chromes for colouring my Belly)

-gain fire pen, which is at minimum 35% mulitplier, more if mobs are resistant to fire (added fire dmg on quality is nice also)
-arsonist would then scale much better and worth not going into templar start

I did rough calc and I can live with the pros and cons going AoF, but one deal breaker which I have not included is the ability to shock. My play style is, curse ass mark, flicker into middle of pack and cleave. Should the flicker be a crit, I shock and ignite the mob I attack. Finally cleaving the shocked mob to finish it off. with that mob now being shocked and low life, it receive 50% increased damage and is not at full-life, making the overkill that much better.

rumour has it that 3rd version of the sword will be AoF compatible, so the above logic will need revisiting. but as for now, I think going non AoF is better. As for elemental resis mobs, I am still leveling and trying to fit windscream in if I can get gear, going dual curse flammability and ass mark should do the trick. I didn't choose ele weak because the increase burning duration on flammability is just sick...

now on scaling phys.

I cannot complaint about the low original phys damage this sword does, because it does so much more. hatred added 40 cold max before anything else gets scaled. even if you get top phys roll on all the jewelry pieces (+15 on rings, +26 on ammy and the extra cold damage this generates) I dont think is worth sacrificing wrath for it.(lvl 21 wrath gives 132 raw damage on avg). I also need cold to fire for 100% conversion(with AoF) or go pyre. I dont want to lose another gem on my 6L and I am more flexible in my choice of jewelries as I can look for flat light/fire which are higher raw value then flat phys.

Finally the dualist ranger area. Man I so which that few nodes are on the marauder/duelist side and I will be all over it. I doubt I will level this char post 95, maybe not even 90. I intend to pick up acro and phase acro to add a bit of survivability on my way to 90. But I am sure if I dont do that, I can pick the crit nodes up. But they are not point efficient as I need 8 points from where I am just to reach the nodes there. Would be better if I start out as a duelist, but I lose the sweep elemental/crit nodes from shadow. It was a painful decision to leave them out.
