PSA: This Build is a Super Budget Build meant for SC Leagues mostly, for stable version of the Burning Trapper Build please checkout Havrd BoTW here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_7HjT3lS3tk

Also sorrry for who stumble upon this Guide and looking for 1.3 Tree, I'm kinda busy lately but I'll update it ASAP!

*Introduction:

"

Hello, everyone, my name is surVfate and this is my first attempt to build something after 1000 hours playing Path of Exile. I am alway a fan of budget build and I hope you guy enjoy this build as I do.

This is a guide about the Avatar of Fire + Chin Sol + Point Blank + Burning Arrow + Trap Templar of mine, with a simple playstyle: "Curse, throw Trap and kite"

The build work very simple, you Ignite one mobs and it will give the burning proliferation to nearby mobs, burning everything in the area.

*F.A.Q:

"

  • Hardcore viable?

- Yes, if you know what you doing. Kiting play an important part of the playstyle, so as long as you don't get hit, you'll safe. Beside checkout the Advance Gearing section for Hardcore Gearing Tips.

  • Why Templar?

- The starting location of Templar is very ideal, having a lot of nodes that affect the build greatly, especially Avatar of Fire and the new Fire Damage section above Witch.

  • Why Burning Arrow?

- Because it is getting reworked / buffed in the 1.2 Patch, and I love set stuffs on fire.

  • Why Avatar of Fire?

- It allowing you to have 100% Physical Damage convert to Fire Damage with Burning Arrow, which boost the initial hit of Fire Damage, which boost the Burning Damage.

  • Why should I play this over Fire Trap, Detonate Dead, Flameblast, Explosive Arrow, other Ignite / Burning Proliferation builds?

- You shouldn't, play whatever you enjoy the most. If you want a budget build and you enjoy the playstyle and the build, then you should play this build.

  • Why Chin Sol?

- It's cheap, it's underated pre-1.2 (now it got buffed), and for a decent DPS budget bow, Chin Sol with it's mechanic is one of the best choice out there.

  • Why Point Blank?

- It's stack with Chin Sol nicely, together they will triple the tooltip damage.

  • Why Trap?

- Great synergy with Chin Sol, allow you to kite mobs while still being able to "Close Range" them (since the arrow distance calculate from the Trap). And give you a nice DPS boost along with the amazing High Explosives node.

  • What about Fire Resist Map mod, is that make you slower?

- Not really, but those which has Curse Immune mod along side Fire Resist could slow things down a bit. But if you got a 6L then you can faceroll those easily.

  • How can you survive attacks that do big Damage like Kole smash, etc?

- Try not taking them in the first place, Acrobatics, Phase Acrobatics and Ondar's Guile with Grace help you minimize the amounts of hit taken with proper kiting playstyle. Beside you got instants Flasks. If you playing Hardcore and having a hard time checkout the Advance Gearing section.

*Pros and Cons of the Build:

Pros

  • Budget. The only Core Requirement Uniques Chin Sol, Hyrri's Bite and Meginord's Vise were all easy to obtain and cost not so much. Beside I was doing a lot of Piety run with ease while only having a 4-Link Burning Arrow setup.
  • A lot of things benefit your DPS: Strength (Iron Grip), Weapon Elemental Damage on Tree / Gears, flat Physical Damage on Gears, Fire Damage, Burning Damage, Trap Damage, etc. Therefore it is very easy to find gears for your character, hence the "budget".
  • Many Keystones taken for Keystones lovers out there.
  • Highly customizable defense style due to the amount of Keystones you passed by, you can either go Iron Reflexes and Unwavering Stance combo, or use Acrobatics, Phase Acrobatics and Ondar's Guile like me. Also there is Mind Over Matter along the way too.
  • Anti-Reflect Damage thank to the gem Trap.
  • High Ignite Chance with the new 1.2 Passive Skill Tree / Burning Arrow / Uniques.
  • Decent clear speed for the budget. Thank to a lot of "More" Multiplier from Chin Sol, Point Blank, Weapon Elemental Damage, Trap.
  • Penetrates 12% Fire Damage (Heart of Flame and High Explosives nodes) without Fire Penetration Support Gem allowing to melting bosses / high Fire Resistance mobs cheaply with a 4L and effectively without a 6L.
  • Simple playstyle.
  • Kite-able again hard bosses, they'll take the burn while you were far away.

Cons

  • A little bit of a glass-cannon, but can be solve with proper end-game gearing and good playing skills.
  • Can't leech due to using Trap (have no fear, Seething / Bubbling Divine Life Flasks are your friends).
  • Before taking Clever Construction, Leap Slam / Lightning Arrow / AoE mobs in general can sometime causing trouble cause they can detroy your trap.
  • Mobs that explose on death will leave no burning proliferation, which is pretty bad. I use Explosive Arrow in these case since it have a built-in AoE on hit, which help in taking bunch of them down at once.
  • Enemy Totems which has the "Other Allies Cannot Die" mod gonna be a pain if you misplace the Trap again them.

*Current Gears, Gears Explaination and Advance Gearing:

Current Gears

(Note that these are my budget gears on Rampage)

Gears Explaination

  • Bow - Chin Sol - Oviously, it's the core item. Checkout the F.A.Q section.
  • Quiver - Hyrri's Bite - This is the choice for Off-Class Ranger Build like our. Got Dex which really helpful consider you using a lot of Dex Skills, got Strength so you have a bit more flat Life and Damage (Iron Grip), last but not least the "Increase Radius of Area Skills" fit the build perfectly.
  • Body Armour - Nothing fancy, just use a 5L with Life and Resistance(s), something with a lot of Evasion Rating is good too, btw the color is a bit tricky but with Vorici's Craft Bench you can get GGBBR easier than before.
  • Gloves - Meginord's Vise - Crap load of Strength, so more Life and Damage (Iron Grip). Also we need a RRRR for Cast when Damage Taken setup with Immortal Call - Decoy Totem - Increase Duration, which is much easier to roll with a Str base item.
  • Helm - Life, Resistance(s), that all. If possible get more Str on it via Masters's Craft Bench.
  • Boots - Gang's Momentum - This is a great new Unique on 1.2, more Ignite Chance, Damage against Ingited Enemies, too good, or you could use a Rare boot with Life, Resistance(s), Move Speed, and last but not least... Strength (if possible).
  • Rings - Flat Physical Damage / Weapon Elemental Damage / Fire Damage / Life / Resistance(s) / Strength. The more good stuffs you got on them, the better. But if you can't find any things decent, just Life and Resistance(s) are enough.
  • Amulet - Same as Rings.
  • Flasks - Seething / Bubbling Divine Life Flasks are your pal here, since I choose Acrobatics, Phase Acrobatics and Ondar's Guile and I kite mobs, I rarely get hit, but those hit I take especially Physical one can be really hurtful, so instant Flasks is a must (now that we got Divine Life Flasks).

Advance Gearing

(W.I.P)

*Skill Gems Setup:

"

(This is just my setup that I feel comfortable with, feel free to alternative them to your liking if you feel that is better. Also checkout the Gems link in my Current Gear section.)

(Note: Skill Gems are listed in order of importance.)

  • Main Skill: Burning Arrow - Chance to Ignite - Elemental Proliferation - Trap (4L - without a 4L you'll have to shoot manually) - Weapon Elemental Damage (5L)- Fire Penetration (6L) (on either Body Armour or Bow)
  • Auras: Grace - Clarity - Reduced Mana - Flamibility (4L - This help not wasting a socket and help reduced the high mana cost of Flamibility) (on Gloves / Helm / Boots)
  • Trigger Setup #1: Cast when Damage Taken (pay attention to the level of this and other Gems in the setup, Level 14 ~ 17 of CwDT is prefered) - Immortal Call - Decoy Totem - Increase Duration / Enduring Cry (4L, only use Enduring Cry here if you don't have another Cast when Damage Taken for another Trigger Setup) (on Gloves if you used Meginord's Vise)

  • [*]Trigger Setup #2: Cast when Damage Taken (Level 1) - Enduring Cry (Level 5) (on Gloves / Helm / Boots)[/*]
[*]Single Target Skill: (NOT REQUIRE) Vaal Burning Arrow - Concentrate Effect - Trap - Weapon Elemental Damage (4L)- Fire Penetration (5L) - Increase Burning Damage (6L) (on either Body Armour or Bow)[/*]

Yeah I agreed, as stated already my Build / Tree is aim toward budget glass-canon-ish use (so Acrobatic / Phase Acrobatic is chosen). As you can see my gear is mostly self-found and crafted by master (my whole gears set properly cost around 10~15c if obtain via trading). The Tree is very flexible I can change into IR/US with the same amount of points, and gear up for more armour, etc, though it would take the budget range that I aim for away.

I agree, I've recently come back to Path of Exile after playing it only a short time in the Beta and I have to say, with how detailed and meticulously this build guide is presented it's surely appreciated by returning players and new players alike.

I'm most certainly going to try this build out, it looks quite fun. Thank you and keep up the good work!
