reverse unrighterous fire

there is a type of monsters (btw. act 3 monsters are missing here) in lunaris lvl3 where the desription says "unrighterous fire" which drains my 3k life in 2 seconds until sure death despite me running away from the monster. every time.

what spell is that and how can i protect myself? run faster?

It's basically a version of the skill gem Rigtheous Fire, with the difference that those enemies don't lose life themselves when using it. So to protect you against them you should have your fire resistance as high as possible, or keep some distance.
What the fuck? I never noticed this skill because im a ranged player, but what the fuck? Are they TRYING to make it impossible to fight in melee range?
It's not that bad, those guys only appear as normal monsters (white name), so they don't have that much health and can be killed quite fast. So with 70+ fire resistance and ~3k life they should be doable on Merciless difficulty. A Hallowed Life Flask can counter the burning damage.

haven't maxed out my fire resist (50% atm) but even with popping 3 health flasks i got no chance. if the burning would stop at 1 hp it would be much better.

yeah, the dispell burning property on flasks.
not sure if the effect can be stopped by flasks only and otherwise burns all your live even if you have 6-8k.

and you really got no chance: they aren't easy to differ from normal pieties compagnions, they suddenly turn into living bombs themselves and they are incredible fast.
additionally if you have elemental damage guys or running corpses in the party you can regognize the aura only by seeing your live drop to zero.

it's always a funny event when a group enters a room and suddently 5/8 are insta killed.
you can really bet on it that it happens and you always have chat comments like: wtf??!!111

Oh, you were playing in a group? This explains how different we experienced this skill doing it's damage, since I played solo. The damage dealt by Unrightous Fire is based on the monster's max life, which is increased if you play in a party. So unlike most of the other content in this game, this is something that definetly gets harder when playing in a group. You definetly want to have 75% fire resistance in that case, halfes the damage compared to 50% resist.

Note that this has been fixed locally, and an upcoming patch will make unrighteous fire ignore increases to monster life from multiple players.

3k life in 2 seconds at 50% resist means that you can survive 4 seconds at 75%, or 6.666 seconds at 85% resist (fire flask). That is more than enough time to kill ANY white mob in the game. By piety's dungeon in merciless, you should definitely be capping the element you expect to face. if you had 6k life, you would live a full 13 seconds against that damage.
The numbers being thrown around here are a little made up, Unrighteous Fire doesn't kill you from 3000 to 0 in 2 seconds. I was grouped with 2 friends, which with this bug makes it even stronger, and I could tank it with 80% Fire Resist with no real issues or sense of urgency. It's strong, sure, but if you have the gear you should when going to face Piety then this shouldn't hurt that much. I guess it doesn't matter though since they've addressed it and fixed it.
