Parry skillgem
Parry
Attributes: Strength Mana reserved: 30% Internal cooldown: 0.25 seconds Description: Focusing extra energy on a defensive fighting stance enables you to parry attacks. Works with Two handed swords and Axes. Grants a two handed sword or two handed axe a 33% chance to parry incomming melee attacks. A parried attack does 50% reduced damage against the player. An attack that would normally do more than 20% of your total health in damage is automatically parried, but prevents you from parrying another attack for 1.60 seconds. Parry does 1 damage to the enemy for the sake of support like curse on hit and such. (Two handed mace excluded - illogical and mace already has stun bonus as a theme) Note: Suggested numbers are to be viewed on as examples, as game balance should be handled by devs. Please critizise based on concept and mechanic - not numbers. Pros and cons: Adds a defensive option for two handed weapons at the cost of 30% reserved mana. Parrying attacks has a 33% chance, equal to just about the same chance of a shield. But unlike shields, parry only reduces the damage by half. Parry has an inbuilt auto-protect vs particulary dangerous attacks - but only by giving a 100% chance to parry - the damage is still only reduced by half. This also adds a slightly longer cooldown to parry before it can trigger again. Support gems it could work with includes BLIND, CURSE ON HIT (becomming curse on parry if you like), KNOCKBACK etc. Parry does NOT do more than 1 damage and can thus not be boosted by melee physical, added fire damage and such - if parry did weapon damage it would be overpowered and would actually make it a counterattack+parry skill. Thoughts? Oh and goal? To stop two handed melee from being a useless option on hardcore. This thread has been automatically archived. Replies are disabled.

Really? The ultimate solution to make 2 handers viable in hardcore endgame again and not one thumbs up? :P

" Bumps and thumbs up are not needed in suggestions because GGG reads all of them. Also, why does it have to do 1 damage? On hit effects work even if you deal no damage because you still hit. It also sounds horribly OP. Wanna use 2h weapons, equip one and have fun. |

I wont claim to know what endgame or hardcore is like, but wouldnt this just cause an unwanted animation/interruption when it triggers? I get that it would be cool to have an option for extra damage reduction with 2-handers and an opportunity for defensive support gem activation. But you'd need to come up with an "excuse" for that damage reduction and support gem that doesnt involve an unwanted animation on top of a reduced mana pool.

Great useful utility for duelists, i would love if two-handed maces and staves get this skill too. :)
